For this next installment of New England Watches, I’m excited to share my recent interview/conversation/life rant with a friend in the watch fam, Eric Ricioppo, who runs the well-known watch podcast Rico’s Watches Podcast.
What did we learn about ourselves during this chat?
We’re easily distracted.
Tangents are the norm.
Picture it now: you’re driving home from work, or maybe sitting on the train, or perhaps taking a walk that could coincidentally be about a hour and a half long. The silence and solitude are a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of your typically daily routine – it is, as Arnold Schwarzenegger so insightfully told us in the 1997 gooberfest that was Batman & Robin, “chill.” But Spotify’s shuffle starts to replay songs that you’ve heard one too many times, even stealing your own playlists and giving them back to you but in all the wrong orders, and you find yourself in some sudden need for a lighthearted listen.
Consider us your commuter friends, your travel acquaintances, and your walk-n-talkers. And the best part is you don’t even have to speak! I mean, don’t get me wrong, if you want to interject with your own opinions to our conversation you are more than welcome – someone may even think you’re talking on the phone and make sure they leave you alone – but we haven’t yet driven that deep into artificial intelligence to make this recording interactive so, alas, we won’t retroactively hear you. But hey, it’s the thought that counts 😊
Below I’ve listed out some of the notable points of our chat in case you’re the type who likes to skip around, and I hope that – at the very least – you’ll share a couple of laughs with us as we meander through the world of the watch fam for a while.
